Staff vs Students | Pav-Fit

When we think of community, we think of culture and connection.

At Essential Movement Systems we’re proud to play a pivotal role in promoting healthy choices and enhancing the social, mental and emotional wellbeing of the groups we work with, all through the power of movement.

For the past 3 years, EMS has engaged well over 100 students across two campuses of the Pavilion School through the Pav-Fit program. The Pavilion School serves young people who’ve been excluded from mainstream education, and together, our work creates a safe, open and supportive space where students can express themselves, challenge their own capacity and resiliency and encourage their peers. Through this experience, they often reconnect with past hobbies or explore new ones with newfound confidence, re-engaging with activities they may have dissociated from during challenging times.

The short video below highlights a celebration of the connection fostered between staff and students in the form of a basketball match. At the end of the day the students got the W, and were the lucky recipients of a $100 voucher, kindly donated by Eat Cannoli Cafe in Preston.

We are deeply grateful for the invaluable support and guidance of the Alcohol and Drug Foundation. Their commitment to preventing and minimising the harm caused by alcohol and other drugs in Australia makes our work possible, and allows us to reach and positively impact those who need it most at a crucial time in their lives. Many of us know of or have experienced first-hand the devastating effects that alcohol and drug abuse can have on individuals, families and communities, and we couldn’t do this important work without the ADF’s partnership.

EMS will continue empowering youth, communities and those at a social disadvantage — but we need your help to reach even further. If this message resonates with you, please share it with your network or someone who might partner with us to create a positive impact somewhere else that truly needs it.

Enjoy the video, and keep moving!
