What is the Essential Movement Approach?

The Essential Movement Approach uses physical activity as the vehicle to move and improve participants physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. Instead of movement being something participants do, it’s something they experience - creating opportunities to learn, grow and develop through mindful movement that puts emphasis on the whole person.

Unlike traditional physical activity programs, the Essential Movement Approach prioritises participation over place. In other words, it cares more about the enjoyment and experience participants get out of sessions, rather than whether they come first or last or win or lose.

At its core, the Essential Movement Approach is about engaging in movement because it is essential to our overall health and wellbeing. To move, and move well, to reap its inherent rewards and live a life where we can truly thrive.

How do we employ the Essential Movement Approach?

Our passionate coaches employ our Essential Movement Approach through leading activities, games and challenges that align with it’s holistic methodology.

Whenever and wherever they engage with participants, they carve out space to tend to all aspects that contribute to our sense of wellness - body, mind and spirit - and invite participants to be mindful of how movement makes them feel.

It’s these opportunities for reflection and connection, with themselves and others, that allow participants to develop a deeper appreciation for and deeper connection with movement that empowers them to move better throughout life.
